Bachué (pronounced
bash-ooey) combines the much-admired
musical talents of Corrina
Hewat and David Milligan, whose
respective backgrounds in traditional
Celtic, jazz and folk music
create a unique and inspiring
sound. After forming
in 1995 they have since gone
on to take festival audiences
by storm nationwide, becoming
one of the hottest properties
on the Scottish music scene.
David, as one of the leading
forces of the Scottish jazz
scene, has developed a unique
crossover into traditional
music with jazz, Cape Breton
style accompaniment and his
own inimitable sound. He
also lectures at the Strathclyde
University-based National Jazz
Institute. With an Honours
degree in Jazz, Contemporary
and Popular Music, Corrinas
inspirational source now embraces
her own tradition. Their respective
commissioned compositions,
premiered at The Highland and
Celtic Connections Festivals,
have earned them a host of
plaudits and they are increasingly
in demand amongst promoters
looking for something new and
different.
