Thanks to those who have sent comments on our newest
CD SKYEDANCE Live in Spain.
The CD has been getting a great response from critics
and fans:
"Skyedance
Live in Spain is one of
the best and most exciting
inter-Celtic musical
collaborations ever!
. . .Top-notch artistry
and . . . a variety of
tunes that range from
the fiercely passionate
to down right exciting.
The enticement begins
with the opening tune "Harris
Dance" featuring great
piping on the Asturian
pipes by Jose Manuel Tejedor
and on the piob mhor by
Eric Rigler, and proceeds
to other great selections
such as "Marabilla" featuring
the beautiful and rich
vocals of Mercedes Peon
backed by the expressive
fiddling of Alasdair Fraser.
A CD to definitely purchase
and savor!" —Joanne
Gagnon, Celtic Beat
"This
is top-flight concert music,
magical in its shadings,
its emotional complexity
and in its multicultural
interweavings. Galician singer
Mercedes Peon's "Marabilla" is
supported beautifully by
Fraser's harmonic phrasing.
Accordionist Kepa Junkera
shines on "Dizzy" and on
the tour de force that ends
the disc. The energetic highlight
is Fraser's "The Spark",
with midi-bagpipes supplemented
mightily by accordion."

News and Review
"Adrenalin
in a jewel case. High-powered
violin/bagpipes/wooden
flute/keyboards/percussion/bass
sextet SKYEDANCE working
onstage with seven guests
from the pinnacles of
modern Galician and Basque
music. A fascinating
and exciting listen." —Arthur
Shuey
"On
their own, Skyedance is a
musical juggernaut, renowned
for their relentless rhythmic
drive and the epic sweep
of their arrangements. For
this concert, they joined
forces with some powerful
performers, including Galician
chanteuse Mercedes Péon,
Basque poet Mikel Laboa,
Asturian piper José Manuel
Tejedor, Basque ensemble
Oreka TX and more. The result
is a joyous celebration of
words and music that will
satisfy even the most jaded
listener. Péon's soaring
voice is exquisite on the
touching "Marabilla." "Stoney
Run" is a fun, jazzy romp
featuring Oreka TX on the
thunky txalaparta. Laboa
lends his earthy voice to
one of the most moving tracks
here, the musical setting
of his poem "Txoria Txori" The
song is made all the more
touching by a thousand voices
in the audience singing along. Peggy
